Location


University Language Institute is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the heart of the United States. We are located in the Cityplex Towers near the Arkansas River.

Tulsa

  • Size: Tulsa is the second largest city in Oklahoma. The total city and metropolitan population of Tulsa is about 937,800 people. Tulsa is a peaceful city, offering all the advantages of a modern city without the disadvantages found in many larger cities. ULI is located in an extremely safe area of the city.
  • Activities: Tulsa has many great restaurants, museums, an aquarium, shopping centers and malls, entertainment, a Performing Arts Center (theatre, ballet, and opera), and a new entertainment event center called the BOK Center (concerts, performances, etc.). Tulsa is a city with many cultural interests. It is a center for Native American handiwork and art, and native dance festivals are a source of entertainment and education. ULI is also located very close to the new Riverwalk Crossing

  • Weather: Tulsa has all 4 seasons: spring, winter, summer, and fall.  The average high temperature is 70.6ºF (21.4ºC) and the average low temperature is 50.7ºF (10.4ºC).  Tulsa has an average of 43.40 inches (110 cm) of rain each year.  Winters in Tulsa are cold and windy with some snow and rain. Winter months are November-February. Tulsa has an average of 5.40 inches (14 cm) of snow each year.  Summers in Tulsa are hot and humid (especially in July and August).   • Hotels: The nearest hotels to the school are Hilton and Days Inn South.
  • Transportation: Most students decide to buy a car unless they live within walking or bicycling distance of the school or with a homestay family. Tulsa Transit provides bus services in Tulsa. If you decide to use the bus, check the bus route map to make sure that you live in a place that has bus service and that you will not need to take more than 2 buses to get to school so that you can be on time for classes.

Cityplex Towers

The school is located on the southeast corner of 81st and Lewis in The Cityplex Towers.  The Cityplex Towers are located in beautiful south Tulsa near the Arkansas River. This modern building has three towers. The school is in the tallest tower which has 60 floors. The school is located on the 14th floor.

Students may eat lunch in the building at the 81st Street Bistro or Pizza Hut. There is also a small convenience store and a Starbucks in the building.There are also many restaurants in the Plaza shopping center across the street from the school.

Oklahoma

  • Oklahoma: The name "Oklahoma" comes from the Choctaw words: "okla" meaning people and "humma" meaning red. The state's name literally means "red people."
  • Education: Oklahoma has 43 colleges and universities.
  • Oklahoma has more man-made lakes that any other state.
  • People: As of 2006, Oklahoma's population is approximately 3,579,212 with the following ancestral makeup: 14.5% German, 13.1% Irish, 9.6% English, 8.1% African American, and 11.4% Native American.  Oklahoma has the largest American Indian population of any state.

The United States of America is a country of variety. People from all over the world have settled here for many different reasons. You can find many landscapes in the USA including oceans, plains, forests, deserts, cities, small towns, and wide open country.

Our school is located in the Cityplex Towers. We are located on the 14th level of the 60-story tower (this is the tallest tower, in the middle). The building has the number "2448" on the outside. You will know that you are in the correct building if you see a coffee shop and a fountain in the lobby. If you do not, just keep walking until you reach the correct lobby.

If you arrive by plane, you should arrive at the Tulsa International Airport. You should contact a travel agent in your town to help you get tickets. If you will tell ULI your travel schedule, one of our teachers or members of the administration can provide free transportation from the airport when you arrive.
